Vineyard Region: BAROSSA VALLEY Grape Variety: SHIRAZ Maturation: 12 months in 70% new French oak and 30% 2-3 year old American oak barrels SILVER MEDAL- ROYAL SYDNEY WINE SHOW 2004 Vineyard Region: BAROSSA VALLEY Grape Variety: SHIRAZ Maturation: 12 months in 70% new French oak and 30% 2-3 year old American oak barrels Winemaker: Neil Pike, Pikes Wines, Clare Valley Winemaker Notes: Nose: Comes alive with time, delivering punchy fresh, vibrant fragrances of white flowers, toasty coconut, and a welcoming rich complex of sweet and dried black fruits with and underlying smoked meaty flavour. Palate: Complex and vast and in definite need of time to open up. The notes following are broad as there is evidence of fresh vibrant fruit and over-ripe, jammy characters as well. Developing notes of plum, prune, red currant and cassis are balancing well but give way to the smoky oak, dark chocolate and tobacco flavours that are in abundance. The acids are strong, fresh and promisingly young, coupled with the tannins that are ripe, tight and prominent. Aging potential: 5+ years Wine Analysis: 13.5% Alc/vol. |
