Vineyard Selection

The Shiraz is sourced from our two vineyards located in Marananga on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley. Age of the vines range from 30- 80 years of age.

Each parcel of Shiraz was hand harvested at optimal phenological ripeness and destemmed to open top fermenters with heading down boards. Twice daily pumpovers were carried out to ensure maximum extraction of colour, flavour and tannin from the grape skins. The wine was basket pressed to one and two-year-old French oak Hogsheads for 18 months maturation. The wine is unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Evaluation

Colour: Dark core with crimson rim.

Aroma: Aromatic bouquet of violets, wild raspberry, blueberry and juniper. Secondary wafts of vanilla bean and cinnamon.

Palate: Red and blue forest fruits are front and centre. Rich sweet mid palate with crunchy red apple acidity. Soft powdery fruit tannins with beautiful persistence of flavour.

Drink upon release and enjoy over the next decade. Partner with a Ploughman’s platter or braised beef cheeks.
