2023 XW Blanc de Noir

$25.00

Colour: Brilliant, straw  with pale rim (amazing considering from a red grape!)

Aroma: Perfumed aromas of citrus, white florals, citrus blossom, white cherry, sea spray, white pepper and delicate spice.

Palate: Medium body with citrus flavours “front and centre”, white peach, creamy vanilla yogurt notes, with delicate velvety ripe fruit tannins encompass the fruit core, complimented with a slatey acid line.

Pour in a black Riedel glass and see who picks it as a white wine!!

A great food wine! Well suited to a range of fresh seafood dishes but would compliment chicken and pork dishes with ease.

Winemaking:

The red grapes were picked early specifically for white wine production. The fruit was hand-picked, destemmed and gently crushed to release the free run juice which was immediately separated from the skins so as to not pick up any colour from the red grape skins. The juice was allowed to undertake a natural fermentation in a small stainless-steel tank. Frequent battonage was carried out to build texture and mouthfeel.  The wine spend 5 months maturation on lees and  malolactic fermentation occurred naturally. The wine had minimal filtration before bottling.
